Playing with elephants
I was on an exchange with college and stayed with a Spanish family in Granada. They were discussing musical instruments and when asked if I played an instrument I told them SÃ, toco la trompa. When they had finished dying of laughter they explained I had told them I played the elephant's trunk! I should have said Toco la trompeta - I play the trumpet.
Editor's note: Trompa is also the word for a musical horn, so Rachel wasn't that far off the mark!
