A man has died following a blaze at a house in Sheffield, according to South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.

The man, who was in his 50s, was found dead on the first floor of an address on Elstree Road at about 08:00 BST on Monday.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus, who had been sent from Birley Moor and Sheffield Central fire stations, extinguished a blaze on the ground floor before the man was discovered.

An investigation into the cause of the blaze was under way, a fire service spokesperson said.
