Police have seized a dog they believe may be a banned breed following a fatal attack on a pet at a country park in Derbyshire.
On Tuesday, officers executed a warrant in the Shirebrook area to seize a dog under section 5 of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1999.
It follows an incident in Pleasley Pit, where one dog fatally injured another.
Experts will examine the seized animal to determine its breed.
Shirebrook Safer Neighbourhood Team said: 鈥淭he dog will now be assessed by dog experts to determine the breed of the dog as it is a suspected banned breed.
鈥淥ur investigations are ongoing.
鈥淲e would like to thank our Dog Section and dog warden for their assistance.鈥
According to the RSPCA, ownership of the pit bull terrier, Japanese tosa, dogo Argentino, fila Braziliero and XL bully breeds is banned.
