A Highland mum has finished seventh in her class at the 2024 Adaptive CrossFit Games in Texas.

Rachel Hives, from Drumnadrochit, has functional neurological disorder (FND) which affects how her brain receives and sends information to the rest of her body.

She was diagnosed when she was 19 and has had to deal with paralysis, spasms and at times she has needed a wheelchair.

The 34-year-old took up CrossFit, a fitness regime that includes weightlifting, running and jumping, two years ago to help improve her health.

Ms Hives competed in seven events against women from the US, Canada, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands in the standing diagnosed category.

The class is for athletes who have been diagnosed with a medical condition that has the potential to affect their performance.

The competition involved four days of intensive workouts.

Ms Hives said: "I never in a million years dreamed I would compete at the Adaptive CrossFit Games so to make it here is a dream, let alone to finish in seventh place."
