Man and teen arrested following knife threat

A 17-year-old boy and a man, 59, have been arrested after a man was allegedly threatened with a knife in York.

North Yorkshire Police said the incident was reported to have happened at around 12:30 BST on Thursday, at the junction of Gillygate and Bootham.

The alleged victim ran from the scene, apparently uninjured, while the suspect was said to have got into a car containing another man, which then drove away.

Officers said a vehicle was then stopped in the Seacroft area of Leeds at 13:04 BST and the two occupants were arrested after a large knife and suspected cannabis paraphernalia were found in the vehicle.

Both were arrested on suspicion of affray, possessing an offensive weapon, and being concerned in the supply of class B drugs.

The man was also arrested on suspicion of fraud.

the pair have been released on conditional bail which prevents them entering North Yorkshire.

Police have appealed for the alleged victim to contact them and have also asked any witnesses or passing motorists with dashcam footage to get in touch.
