A former quarry is to be turned into a public fishing lake after plans were approved by council planners.

Land near Bank End Road in Finningley, Doncaster, will be converted from the former sand and gravel quarry to the fishing facility.

At a meeting on Thursday, Doncaster Council gave the green light to the plans, which include creating 10 car parking spaces and making alterations to an access road.

The lake will be open to members of the public once completed, with one part-time employee overseeing the site鈥檚 activity.

No objections to the plans were lodged by council officers or members of the public, .

Overall, planning officers ruled the proposal complied with all relevant policies and was considered to be a suitable use for the space.
