A woman has lost her unborn baby after being hit by a car, prompting a police appeal.

The pedestrian, who was in her sixth month of pregnancy, was seriously injured in the crash on Hill Top in West Bromwich at about 19:30 GMT on 18 February.

West Midlands Police said the driver left the scene, adding a 25-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

PC John Williams said the force was focusing its inquiries on a BMW 1 series car and an Audi TT.

He appealed for witnesses who may have seen the vehicles around Tildasley Street, Old Meeting Street and New Swan Street at about 19:22 GMT.

"I am interested in hearing from anyone who witnessed the vehicles waiting at the traffic lights, whose attention might have been drawn towards them," PC Williams added.

鈥淲e would like to hear from people with dashcam footage."

The 25-year-old suspect has been released pending further investigation.
