Appeal after assaulted man found near footpath

Police have launched an investigation after a man was found seriously injured in a Nottinghamshire town.

Nottinghamshire Police said he was discovered shortly before 03:00 BST on Thursday, near the footpath between Jubilee Way South and Oak Tree Lane in Mansfield.

The man, in his 30s, was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition, having sustained "very significant injuries".

Officers, who believe the man was assaulted, are appealing for information.
