A man has appeared in court charged in connection with the seizure of drugs with an estimated street value of £100,000 in Londonderry .

Michael Joseph Cassidy, 34, from Grainan Park, Derry, appeared at Dungannon Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

He is charged with having cocaine with intent to supply, being concerned in the supply of cocaine and having cannabis and criminal property.

Mr Cassidy is further charged with having fireworks without a licence and driving while unfit.

The charges relate to the seizure of drugs with an estimated street value of £100,000 on the Strand Road in city on Thursday.

A defence solicitor told the court a co-suspect is being sought, and on this basis it would not be suitable to seek bail.

The accused was remanded in custody and will appear before Londonderry Magistrates' Court on 8 August.
