Dozens of firefighters are tackling a blaze at a recycling facility.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to the scene just off Monument Hill, in Stert, near Devizes, at 15:20 BST on Thursday.
It said some 45 firefighters, including crews from Pewsey, Trowbridge and Gillingham, were tackling the fire inside a large steel concrete-sided shed, which contains cardboard.
Locals are being urged to keep their doors and windows closed due to thick smoke rising from the site.
"The focus is on preventing fire spread and bringing the incident under control," the service said.
Traffic monitoring system Inrix said motorists in the area can expect slow traffic on A342 in both directions from Marshall Road to Monument Hill.
