Businesses with more than 10 employees will be offered a new food waste collection service

A food waste collection service will be offered to businesses in Rotherham to help firms conform with new legislation.
From 31 March businesses with more than 10 employees will be required to dispose of their food waste separately from general waste.
Rotherham Council has said it will help firms meet the new regulations by appointing a contractor to operate the service.
Businesses will be charged for the service, but the authority has not revealed the cost.
A report discussed by the cabinet on Monday recommended the council uses a contractor, as only 18 per cent of customers were predicted to use the service, according to the .
It says direct collection by the council would be financially inefficient, as it would require substantial investment in specialised vehicles, drivers, and infrastructure.
The council will also offer firms advice on waste minimisation and collections for paper, plastics, metals, and glass.
