Body found in search for missing man
Police searching for a missing man in his late 70s have found a body.
North Yorkshire Police said the body was found near the village of Askrigg, in Wensleydale, by Mountain Rescue Volunteers on Saturday.
A force spokesperson said officers believe the body to be that of Howard Gibbs who was last seen at his home in Askrigg on Friday.
Officers said formal identification has yet to take place and added there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
The spokesperson said: "Although formal identification has yet to take place, we believe the man to be missing Howard.
"His family have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this time."
