Who is ahead in the presidential election?
This map of the US states is being filled in as results are called. Red represents a projected win for the Republicans, blue a projected win for the Democratic party. With fewer than 10 state results left to come, the map shows huge swathes of the country coloured red including much of the south, mid and north west regions. The Democrats have picked up states in the north east, the west coast, and Colorado and Illinois across the central belt. Donald Trump is projected to win North Carolina, Georgia and Pennsylvania, the first results from the seven battleground states.
