Coventry City Football Club will still be controlled by Sisu Capital Limited despite a wholesale transfer of shares, a club spokesman confirmed.

According to the latest annual returns submitted by Sky Blue Sports & Leisure, the majority of its shares have been transferred to Sconset Capital LP.

Many fans want Sisu to leave the struggling Championship club with some displaying banners at recent games.

"Sconset is 100% controlled by Sisu Capital Limited," the spokesman said.

"It is Sisu that has full management control of the parent company, and of the football club."

He added the idea was to "wrap up" a number of funds to create one which looked after Sky Blue Sports & Leisure.

The New York-based hedge fund Sconset has 13,150 shares with former City director Leonard Brody owning the other 548.

The transfer of shares to Sconset, registered in the Cayman Islands, took place last year when ex-chairman Ray Ranson and former vice-chairman Gary Hoffman were still on the board.

They both left earlier this year and Mr Ranson's replacement Ken Dulieu himself stood down from the role to become head of football operations earlier this month.

Last Saturday, he angered supporters by sitting with manager Andy Thorn on the bench during the 1-0 defeat by Hull City at the Ricoh Arena.

Another former chairman, Labour MP Geoffrey Robinson, has called for the owners to depart.

Last month Mr Robinson said: "We need new owners to step forward. We need Sisu to bow out and realise they have made a mess.

"They've lost total credibility and any residual good will."

Conservative MP Damian Collins has previously expressed concern about the ownership of the football club because "it didn't seem to be clear who the ultimate owners of the club were".
