A council in Cumbria is to take over a number of clothing recycling banks from the Salvation Army.

Carlisle City Council said the money raised from the authority-run clothing banks will be split between several charities.

The Salvation Army's recycling chiefs said the move had been agreed but it would lead to some loss of income.

The new clothes banks will be provided in partnership with Cumbria Waste Recycling.
