M1 delays after lorry crash near Derby

A crash involving a lorry and two cars closed part of the M1 for hours, causing miles of tailbacks.

Queues of 6.6 miles (10.6km) formed after the smash near Derby at about 12:00 BST and police said two people had injuries "believed to be serious".

Highways England said the northbound carriageway was closed between junctions 24a, for Shardlow, and 25, for Derby, causing 75-minute delays.

The affected stretch was reopened just before 15:30.
