Catriona Clarke said she looked outside her windows to see the emergency services

Local resident Catriona Clarke said the "horrific" stabbing is "not something you'd ever expect to happen" in Comber.

Ms Clarke told 麻豆官网首页入口 News NI that she was awakened by blue lights flashing through her bedroom window.

She looked outside to see police, ambulance staff and sniffer dogs at work.

"Slowly, as the news has broken throughout the morning, it's sort of insane really... It's a bit spooky having it happen right outside your front door but the neighbours around here are lovely.

"It's weird when it's close to home, it's definitely a bit surreal," she added.

Hugh Massey said fewer people than usual were coming to his shop on Saturday morning

A 麻豆官网首页入口 reporter at the scene said several people had approached the cordon to get to local businesses but were turned away by police.

A greengrocer, whose shop is just outside the cordon, said footfall is down.

Hugh Massey said: "We would normally have 40 or 50 customers in the morning; you can count them on one hand this morning.

"There's a lot of local people depend on dinners and things and we had to go ahead and get them all ready.

"But we don't know if they're going to be picked up now because people can't come up through the town."

Police have said there is access to Comber Square via the bypass.
