Travel disruption across Scotland as heavy snow returns
Commuters experienced travel delays during Wednesday's rush hour as snow made a return to parts of Scotland.
Trains and buses were cancelled with the wintry weather affecting parts of Edinburgh, Perth and Kinross and the Highlands.
Edinburgh Castle had to close at about 15:00 and locals reported gridlock conditions in the capital.
Many routes in Edinburgh and the surrounding area experienced "gridlock" during the evening rush hour.
Some of the suburbs and towns in Midlothian had a reported five inches of lying snow.
A yellow warning for rain and snow expired at midnight.
Roads further south into the Borders were also been affected.
Amey SE Trunk Roads said the A68 and A7 had "the worst of the snow".
