New deputy chief at Tayside Police

A new deputy chief constable has started work at Tayside Police.

Gordon Scobbie, previously assistant chief constable of West Midlands Police, was appointed in September and began his new role on Monday.

DCC Scobbie was based in Glasgow until 2004 when he was transferred to the Midlands, initially to Solihull.

He will work alongside Justine Curran, who was appointed as Tayside Police's first female chief constable in February 2010.

DCC Scobbie said: ''I am delighted to be given the opportunity of serving the people of Tayside in my new role of deputy chief constable.

"Tayside Police is a successful force and I look forward to building on that success."

The officer said his primary focus would be maintaining frontline services in financially difficult times.

DCC Scobbie also leads UK police forces on the use of social media - a role he retains in Scotland - and announced his recent appointment at Tayside Police in a .
