Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Radio Wales and Radio Cymru gain listeners

Both Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Radio Wales and Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Radio Cymru have seen an increase in listeners, new figures have shown.

Radio listening organisation Rajar said 409,000 weekly listeners tuned in to Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Radio Wales during the last three months of 2015, an increase of 25,000.

In the same time, 108,000 weekly listeners tuned in to Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Radio Cymru, an increase of 4,000.

Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Wales said the figures were "encouraging" and work was ongoing to make both stations stronger.

In the commercial sector, Capital north Wales' weekly audience climbed from 128,000 to 147,000, while its south Wales audience hit 161,000 compared to 215,000 in the previous quarter.

Heart north Wales' audience rose by 10,000 to 146,000 but 30,000 fewer listeners tuned in to Heart south Wales as it recorded a weekly audience of 522,000.

Swansea Sound lost 18,000 listeners to an average weekly audience of 52,000 while its sister station The Wave saw an increase of 1,000 listeners to 149,000.

There were falls for Radio Carmarthenshire (-8,000 to 32,000), Radio Ceredigion (-1,000 to 17,000), Nation Hits (-11,000 to 31,000), Nation Radio (-26,000 to 150,000) and Radio Pembrokeshire (-2,000 to 36,000).

Bridge FM's audience remained unchanged at 36,000.
