Disused public toilets in Merthyr go up for auction

Bidders are expected to spend more than just a penny as disused public toilets in Merthyr Tydfil go under the hammer on Thursday.

The former public convenience in North Street, Dowlais, owned by the council, will be auctioned with a guide price of 拢6,000.

Auctioneers Paul Fosh said the usual building could be turned into a cafe, shop or even a new home.

A second council-owned block, in Newport was withdrawn from the auction.

The Victorian Grade II-listed former men's loos in the Pill area of the city had been scheduled to be auctioned with a guide price of 拢4,000.
