South Wales Police asked for Sammy Almahri to be extradited after the murder of Nadine Aburas in Cardiff

A man has been charged with the murder of a Cardiff woman whose body was found in a hotel room.

Nadine Aburas, 28, was found at the city's Future Inn on December 31.

Sammy Almahri, 44, a US national, made a brief appearance at Cardiff Magistrates' Court on Thursday, wearing a grey jacket and checked shirt.

He made no plea and was remanded in custody to appear at the city's crown court on Friday.

Mr Almahri, who has no address in this country, was arrested by police agencies in Tanzania, east Africa, at the end of January.

He was then extradited to the UK at the request of South Wales Police, to be interviewed in connection with Ms Aburas's murder.

The international search for Mr Almahri came after an emotional appeal from Miss Aburas's mother.

Andrea Aburas said her daughter was "a beautiful and kind hearted girl. She would never hurt anyone, she just wanted to help people".
