Why did the cow cross the road? Was it was trying to get Moo York City, or just exercising its moo-scles? We'll never know.

But thankfully, for local police officers and its owner, this cow in Florida in the US has been found safe and well and has now been caught.

The bold bovine had been on the loose since January but this week police officers finally managed to direct it into an enclosed area until its owner was able to come to pick it up.

With a dark-coloured body and white head it probably benefitted from a bit of cow-moo-flage. But that's not the only reason this cow had been causing police so much trouble.

On a joke 'wanted' poster, Pembroke Pines Police described the cow as "faster than it looks; a talented fence jumper; and enjoys pools".

They'd also joked that the cow would be charged with "mooving violations, uddering false checks, and fleeing and eluding police".

For several months the cow, which police said, "doesn't present a threat to the public", had been seen wandering around the local area.

Officers were probably worried they'd have to go uddercover or on a steak-out to try and convince this cheeky character to moo-ve back to his home field again.

But now he's been safely found, they can take stock of the situation and maybe even milk the rewards.

In a statement they said: "We wish the cow well on its future adventures."

Now this particular cow has become such a master escape artist, he's sure to be outstanding in his field.
