The Olympic Games get underway in Paris later this week.

Over 300 athletes will form Team GB and appear on this summer's biggest sporting stage.

Among them will be 14 teenagers who are heading to France to represent their country.

One of those hoping to come back with a medal is 17-year-old Phoebe Gill, who will make history as the youngest track athlete on the British Olympic team in more than 40 years!

When it comes to the Olympics, Phoebe said she's expecting "a ton of fun... I'm 17 coming into the Games, it's my first time with a GB vest; I just can't wait to experience it all."

Phoebe started middle distance running at the age of 10.

She says that heading to the Olympics was a childhood dream that she didn't think was possible even a few months ago.

"I need to let it sink in that I'm actually going," Phoebe explained.

Her journey to Paris began earlier this year when she broke a long-standing under-18 record for the 800m.

What makes Phoebe's achievement even more impressive is that she qualified while studying for her A-levels.

Phoebe says that mixing schoolwork and training has been a positive thing.

"It's really good because sometimes when you do a race it can constantly be in your head and you're thinking about it, so it's been good to focus on studies while everything has been going on."

In June, she confirmed her place on the Olympic team by winning the British 800m title at the UK Championships in Manchester, beating huge stars of the athletics world.

"Coming away with the win was the most indescribable thing that could happen," she explained.

Phoebe says she's now really looking forward to arriving in Paris for the Games.

"I just can't wait to share the hotel and the Olympics village with all these different athletes.

She added: "I can't wait to run with people I've been watching on the TV for so long."

Good luck Phoebe!
