What do you think about having a time limit on hugs?

A hug is a comforting and warm embrace that shows your affection for someone. But what if there was a time limit for how long you were allowed to hug for?

That's what's happened at Dunedin Airport in New Zealand, where a sign has limited cuddle time to three minutes for people saying goodbye to their loved ones before they travel.

The airport says this is to make sure more people get to say their goodbyes safely and gives room for cars to move along in the drop off zone.

Dunedin Airport CEO Daniel De Bono said: " It's really about enabling enough space for others to also have hugs, there's only so much space in our drop off areas."

If you were in this situation would you say goodbye to big long hugs? We want to know your thoughts. Let us know what you think in the comments.

If squeezing goodbyes to 180 seconds is too short an amount of time, people are asked to move on to send their fond farewells in the car park.

There they have 15 minutes free for hugging.

So what happens if you stay longer than three minutes in the drop off area?

Mr De Bono said: "We're not going to call the hug police, that would be bonkers."

A study from Goldsmiths, University of London, says hugs which last between five to 10 seconds are associated with being the most pleasant to receive.

Hugging for around 10 seconds is also enough to release the hormone oxytocin which is often called the "cuddle chemical".

It helps relieve stress and makes you feel better.
