Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Worldwide Press Releases

Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Worldwide drama takes centre stage at MIPCOM 2008

Ìý

Murder mystery and bittersweet comedy top the list of exciting new dramas Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Worldwide is taking to MIPCOM 2008.

Ìý

The dark crime thriller Wallander sees the return of Kenneth Brannagh to the small screen in an unforgettable performance as the title character. This major Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú 1 drama is the first production from new independent Left Bank Pictures in conjunction with Yellowbird.ÌýThe series investigates three sinister murder mysteries based on the award-winning and phenomenally popular novels by Henning Mankell.

Ìý

Hat Trick's latest gem Mutual Friends, starring Keeley Hawes, offers lighter relief as the bittersweet comedy explores the very modern dilemma of choosing between family and responsibility or fun and reckless abandonment. This contemporary drama charts the trials and tribulations of modern relationships.

Ìý

Survivors is another highlight in Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Worldwide's catalogue. From the writer of Primeval, Adrian Hodge's re-working of the classic seventies Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú drama series, based on the novel by Terry Nation, is a thrilling action adventure. A group of lone survivors are faced with the ultimate challenge – to simply survive - after a mysterious disease wipes out the rest of the population. Starring Freema Agyeman (Doctor Who, Torchwood) and Max Beesley (Hotel Babylon) amongst others.

Ìý

Two new comedy dramas will be attracting much attention. BAFTA award winner Steve Coogan stars as a loveable rogue with big plans in Sunshine, the bittersweet, heart-warming comedy drama about family, lost childhoods and second chances.Ìý

England's answer to Sex in the City, P.A's is a sexy, good-looking comedy with lashings of style, wit, glamour and gloss - and a thrilling storyline. Set in Hartmann Payne City investment bank, it follows a bunch of brilliant, sexy, funny and confused P.A.s, whose jobs involve far more than just organising meetings and making coffee.

Ìý

Prepare to be scared, very scared. With Whitechapel, starring Rupert Penry-Jones, Carnival Films have produced a cinematic and stylish drama that will keep the heart racing about a barbaric killer copying the infamous Jack the Ripper murders down to the very last detail.Ìý

Margaret examines Margaret Thatcher's final years in power, painting a detailed and compelling portrait of one of the most formidable characters in British politics. Lindsay Duncan stars in this modern dramatic tragedy that illustrates the strengths and fatal flaws of this iconic woman more clearly than ever before.

The modern dramas join two more period drama masterpieces by the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú. The much anticipated Tess of the D’Urbervilles has Gemma Arterton (the Bond girl in the forthcoming James Bond thriller) in the lead role.

Ìý

Rags, riches, romance and the cruel twists of fortune, Little Dorrit will undoubtedly underline the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú's reputation for exceptional adaptations. The gripping new series brings to life Dickens' powerful story of struggle and hardship in 1820s London.Ìý

Ìý

Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Worldwide's comedic offerings are just as impressive. Baby Cow's Gavin & Stacey, about an ordinary boy from England and an ordinary girl from Wales, is now in its 2nd series and is being inundated with accolades including a BAFTA and three British Comedy Awards.Ìý

Ìý

Beautiful People is about a world of small town boredom versus big city dreams as seen through the eyes of 13 year old Simon who pictures himself on the pages of the celebrity magazines with the 'beautiful people' – except he lives in the suburbs of working-class Reading.

Ìý

In the history genre Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Worldwide presents the highly anticipated Moonshot, a Dangerous Films production celebrating the 40th anniversary of the first lunar landing.Ìý Using the pioneering special effects techniques of D-Day and 9/11: The Twin Towers, powerful dramatic reconstruction, incisive interviews, breathtaking never-before-seen HD archive and astonishing facts - this film takes the outer story of the watching world and sets it against the fascinating, little-known inner story of the mission.

Ìý

American Future- A History by Simon Schama, coinciding with the US elections of 2008, is a refreshing antidote to the whir of sensationalist spin and scandal, measuring up to the seriousness of the moment without diluting the excitement of campaign politics. Turning to fascinating moments in American history to understand the present, this series offers a timely and gripping vision of the United States facing its moment of truth.

Ìý

Life and South Pacific are two stunning new, landmark natural history series, both shot in HD. The ten-part series Life offers the definitive exploration of the diversity of life on Earth, revealing the most spectacular and fascinating behaviour driven by the endless struggle to survive. Life stars a cast of 'box-office' wildlife characters, filmed on every continent and in every habitat across the world.Ìý

Ìý

South Pacific explores the sheer scale and majesty of the largest ocean on Earth, the isolation of its islands, the extraordinary journeys wildlife and humans have gone through to reach these specks of land, and what happened to both after their arrival.

Ìý

From the makers of Doctor Who and Torchwood comes The Sarah Jane Adventures.Ìý Now in its second series, these alien-busting adventures for children follow investigative journalist Sarah Jane Smith, one-time companion to that strange wanderer in time and space known as the Doctor.

Ìý
