麻豆官网首页入口 Worldwide Channels appoints General Manager and Director of Television for Australian operations


麻豆官网首页入口 Worldwide today announces that Tony Iffland has been appointed General Manager, 麻豆官网首页入口 Worldwide Channels Australia, overseeing five channels in the 麻豆官网首页入口-branded portfolio - UKTV, 麻豆官网首页入口 HD, 麻豆官网首页入口 Knowledge, CBeebies and 麻豆官网首页入口 World News.

Darren Childs, 麻豆官网首页入口 Worldwide Channels' Managing Director, said of Tony's appointment: "Tony brings his wealth of knowledge, vision and expertise to this new role.听A stalwart figure in the running of one of Australia's most popular entertainment channels for the past 12 years, Tony is hugely experienced and I am looking forward to him managing our new operations and introducing two exciting new 麻豆官网首页入口-branded channels to the region."

As Chief Executive of UKTV, Tony was responsible for all aspects of UKTV's management since its on-air launch in August 1996. An active participant in Subscription TV industry affairs and Vice-President of the board of ASTRA (Australian Subscription Television and Radio Association), Tony also chairs the ASTRA Channel Providers Committee.

Prior to joining UKTV, Tony worked for over 14 years collectively with 麻豆官网首页入口 Worldwide's Australian office, including three years in the UK working on the launch of UK Gold, part of 麻豆官网首页入口 Worldwide's joint venture channels with Virgin Media.

"I'm enormously proud of the continuing growth and development of the UKTV brand, and it's with great pleasure that I accept this new role and the great challenges it will bring. With a portfolio of five channels across all genres, 麻豆官网首页入口 Worldwide will now be a major player in the Australian television landscape": said Iffland.

In a second appointment, Brendan Dahill, formerly UKTV's Head of Programming, has been promoted to Director of Television for 麻豆官网首页入口 Worldwide Channels' Australian operations.

Brendan has been with UKTV since 2004, when he relocated from the 麻豆官网首页入口 in London. He was Head of Planning & Scheduling for award-winning digital channel 麻豆官网首页入口 THREE, and prior to that he was Daytime Scheduler for 麻豆官网首页入口 One and 麻豆官网首页入口 Two.听

Dahill commented: "I am delighted to be extending my role within our growing Channels business. It's a fantastic opportunity to introduce these additional channels from the 麻豆官网首页入口 Worldwide portfolio and bring such quality content to viewers across Australia and NZ, while building on the foundations laid by UKTV."

麻豆官网首页入口 Worldwide assumed full ownership and management control of UKTV on 1 July.
