麻豆官网首页入口 FOUR wins three Grierson Awards


The 麻豆官网首页入口 was last night awarded with four Grierson awards at a ceremony hosted by Michael Palin and recorded for broadcast on 麻豆官网首页入口 FOUR tonight (Wednesday 13 November 2002).


There was also a lifetime achievement award for David Attenborough, whose new 麻豆官网首页入口 ONE series The Life of Mammals starts next week.


麻豆官网首页入口 FOUR was presented with three awards:


Best Historical Documentary for Ceaucescu: The King of Communism, which explored the Romanian dictator's extraordinary use of theatrical propaganda, directed by Ben Lewis (Little Bird for 麻豆官网首页入口 FOUR);


International Documentary for Southern Comfort, the remarkable life of a female-to-male trans-sexual in the back woods of Georgia, directed by Kate Davies of Q - Ball Productions (麻豆官网首页入口 FOUR);


Joint Best Newcomer for This is Palestine/News Time, an account of film-maker Azza El-Hassan's own neighbourhood in Ramallah.


Roly Keating, Controller of 麻豆官网首页入口 FOUR, said: "These awards are a fantastic vote of confidence for 麻豆官网首页入口 FOUR in its first year. It proves that the best work on digital channels can now rapidly get mainstream recognition."


麻豆官网首页入口 TWO was presented with the award for Best Documentary on the Arts for Omnibus: David Hockney's Secret Knowledge in which the artist reveals the use of optical tools in European painting, directed by Randall Wright (麻豆官网首页入口 Specialist Factual for 麻豆官网首页入口 TWO).
