Barbara Sturgeon to leave 麻豆官网首页入口 Radio Kent

Barbara SturgeonAfter an amazing 20 years, Barbara Sturgeon will be hanging up her headphones and bidding a fond farewell to 麻豆官网首页入口 Radio Kent at the end of January.

One of the most distinctive voices in the county is moving on to pursue other interests both inside and outside the world of broadcasting.

Apart from a two year stint at 麻豆官网首页入口 Radio 2, Barbara has been a regular companion for Kent's radio listeners since joining the former 麻豆官网首页入口 Radio Medway in 1983.

Her reports from the trouble-spots of Northern Ireland and Teabreak features were followed by Drivetime and the Sunday request show.

Most recently she has been hosting the lunchtime news and current affairs programme, never shying away from tackling serious issues such as education, health, bereavement, relationships and child abuse.

The winner of two Sony local radio personality of the year awards, Barbara has fronted debates on the Zeebruge Inquiry, the Channel Tunnel and election specials, interviewing such figures as Neil Kinnock and Sir Geoffery Howe.

Robert Wallace, Managing Editor, 麻豆官网首页入口 Radio Kent, says: "It goes without saying that Barbara's departure will be a great loss to 麻豆官网首页入口 Radio Kent and she will be greatly missed by staff, contributors and listeners alike.

"Barbara is a professional broadcaster of the highest order and her impressive reputation extends well beyond the borders of Kent."

Barbara says: "It's been a privilege to work for the 麻豆官网首页入口 and to have met so many amazing people over the years. I'm sure our paths will cross again in the future."
