Martin Shaw reprises his ever popular and critically acclaimed role of John Deed, the judge who is not afraid to question the establishment, in a new series for 麻豆官网首页入口 ONE.

Filming has just started on the fourth series of GF Newman's legal drama Judge John Deed, which is due to transmit later this year.

Shaw's returning co-stars include Jenny Seagrove as the dedicated barrister Jo Mills, Caroline Langrishe as Deed's trouble stirring ex-wife George and Sir Donald Sinden as his father-in-law, 'old school' judge Sir Joseph Channing.

In an extended run of six 90-minute episodes, the eponymous judge has more than enough on his plate dealing with a change in his working environment as his rebellious daughter, Charlie (Louisa Clein), has followed in her father's footsteps and is embarking on a legal career of her own.

She is working as a junior to Deed's ex-lover, Jo, doing vital research and interviews.

However, Charlie finds difficulty in differentiating between her home and work life, and John Deed, her father, and John Deed the Judge.

Deed also has his ongoing battles with the powers-that-be; refusing to compromise on sensitive and controversial issues to ensure that justice prevails.

But Rita 'Coop' Cooper (Barbara Thorn) is on hand as the voice of reason and Deed's eyes and ears whilst Sir Monty Everard (Simon Ward) and Laurence James (Fraser James) are determined to rein-in the unconventional Judge.

Jo Mills also has distractions as her private life is regularly taking her away from her role in court.

Jo is determined to adopt a young boy, Michael, who she promised to take responsibility for after a client she was representing died from a brain tumour.

However, Jo is finding the task of balancing her workload and spending time with the grieving boy more difficult than she thought.

Judge John Deed is written and produced by GF Newman and made by 麻豆官网首页入口 Drama Series in association with One-Eyed Dog Ltd.

Executive Producers are 麻豆官网首页入口 Controller of Drama Series, Mal Young, and Ruth Caleb.
