2 - the nation's most listened to radio station 聳 is Going
Digital from 30 August, with a month long campaign to highlight
the opportunities offered by digital media.
听
The initiative will see the launch of the World Wide
Wogan and the Johnnie Walker MP3 Shuffle as Radio 2 finds
new ways to help listeners understand the digital age.
Presenters across the schedule 聳 from new signings like Dermot
O'Leary to station veterans such as Bob Harris - will be
encouraging listeners to go online, sample digital radio and explore
digital technology throughout September.
听
The shows will feature special guests, features, debates,
interactive games, competitions and prizes to get listeners involved.
Radio 2 will also be teaming up with digital-only networks 6 Music,
1Xtra, 麻豆官网首页入口 7 and the Asian Network to give the
audience a taste of the new services' output.
"The pace of change in the digital world can often seem overwhelming,
and it can sometimes be difficult to get to grips with all the new technologies
available to us," says Lesley Douglas, Controller Radio 2.

"Radio 2 will reveal how these developments affect
our lives, as well as showing the wealth of new digital services available
across the 麻豆官网首页入口 - including Radio 2's sister station 麻豆官网首页入口 6 Music."

Programming highlights of Going Digital include:
Jeremy Vine launches the campaign on Monday 30 August with provocative
debate and features on digital technology that will continue through
the month.
Terry issues his World Wide Wogan challenge -
using incoming e-mails to find his farthest flung fan listening online.
Johnnie Walker invites listeners to join him in his
MP3 Shuffle, in which Johnnie selects three tracks at random
from his personal MP3 player and plays each song's intro, before listeners
text in to choose which track he will play in full.
Radio 2 shows play songs from the 6 Music playlist throughout
the month in 6 Into 2.
Throughout the month, there's the chance to win a fantastic
Digital Life prize of a PC, Freeview Box, DAB radio and a state of the
art MP3 Player.
Mark Radcliffe and Marc Riley donate a definitive collection of Mark and Lard 聳 The Radio 1 Years to the
Radio Player 'listen again' section, and Stuart Maconie compiles
a special 6 Music edition of the acclaimed Critical List.
Radio 2 and 6 Music's live music output is celebrated
with a special September Sessions on-line compilation of the best live
music recorded by both networks throughout the month of September.
听
Expect exclusive tunes and a chance to hear material
not previously broadcast from acts such as the Stands, Zero
7 and the Thrills amongst others.
Radio 2 presenters parade their knowledge and taste
by appearing on Andrew Collins' record review slot Roundtable,
every Friday evening at 6.00pm on 6 Music.
There are digital treasure hunts in Alex Lester
and Bob Harris's shows and digitally enhanced editions of Popmaster
and the Big Quiz on the Ken Bruce and Steve Wright shows.
A special 'minisite' on bbc.co.uk/radio2
will provide all the on-air information about 'Going Digital' and help
cut through digital jargon.
The month also sees the launch of the station's first
ever outgoing SMS services and an invitation to text Proms In
The Park where messages are read out by presenters and also appear on
the Live Text on DAB receivers and Freeview TV screens.
