Birmingham's buskers love nothing more than a friendly audience to sing and strum to and 麻豆官网首页入口 WM is offering them the perfect opportunity to do just that.

The radio station is banging its drum to grab the attention of the city's best street players to perform at the Mad About Music event on Bank Holiday Monday, 2 May.

Following the huge success of last year's Mad About Music, organisers are on the look out for musical talent to make the 2005 event bigger, better and brighter.

The musical fun day spills from stages in Brindleyplace and the Mailbox onto the canals in and around the city.

麻豆官网首页入口 WM is looking for a range of musicians that represent the rich diversity of the city, from one-man-bands to polyphonic sprees.

The station has already booked Chinese lion dancers, steel pans, reggae and gospel artists as well as barbershop singers and classical musicians and wants to hear from all kinds of other performers to take part.

Event Producer Jenny Wilkes says: "The fantastic cross-cultural make-up of Birmingham is reflected in its amazing range of performers and musicians.

"We're hoping to capture the essence of our vibrant city in a fun-filled afternoon for all the family."

Performers who believe they have what it takes to put a smile on the faces of Birmingham's music lovers should send a CD and biography by Friday 8 April to:

Jenny Wilkes, 麻豆官网首页入口 WM, The Mailbox, Birmingham, B1 1 RF;

or email: jenny.wilkes@bbc.co.uk

With its main stage and bandstand in Brindleyplace, Mad About Music is a festival of live music which takes place in and around the canals of Birmingham between noon and 6.00pm, Bank Holiday Monday, 2 May 2005.

麻豆官网首页入口 WM's Mad About Music is supported by Arts Council England, 麻豆官网首页入口 Midlands Today, Birmingham City Council, British Waterways, Brindleyplace and The Mailbox.
