The new series of Extras, the award-winning comedy from Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant was today launched to the press by Roly Keating, Controller of 麻豆官网首页入口 TWO.

Roly Keating said: "In this second series, Ricky and Stephen have had the courage to move the plot on in surprising ways. Extras is a clever mix of outrageous satire and subtle, poignant comedy, skilfully executed in a brilliant plotline."

The second series of Extras, which transmits on 麻豆官网首页入口 TWO from Thursday 14 September at 9.00pm, follows Andy Millman (Ricky Gervais) as filming on his sitcom begins and he moves from background artist to TV face.
听
Despite his burgeoning success, Andy is still surrounded by the usual cast of idiots: his hapless best friend Maggie (Ashley Jensen), his incompetent agent Darren Lamb (Stephen Merchant) and 'Barry off EastEnders' (Shaun Williamson).
听
Ricky Gervais said: "This year I worked with such international megastars as Orlando Bloom, David Bowie, Chris Martin of Coldplay, Sir Ian McKellen, Daniel Radcliffe and Robert Lindsay but for me the performance of the series comes from a little, fat scouser called Keith Chegwin."

Stephen Merchant added: "I don't want to seem immodest but I really think the new series of Extras features some of the funniest scenes we've ever written. Why not watch all six episodes then buy it on DVD to see if you agree."

Ashley Jensen said of her Extras experience: "Working with Ricky and Stephen again has been great apart from the whole kissing Orlando Bloom scene - that was demanding, really, really, hard work. I can't believe they did that to me."
