Dara O'Briain returns to Mock The Week in 2007

Mock The Week, the programme that blends panel show elements with stand-up comedy, off-the-cuff games and role-play, returns to 麻豆官网首页入口 Two in January 2007.

The hit series is making a name for itself as the show for nurturing new talent.

Mock The Week is hosted by Ireland's finest, Dara O'Briain. The resident panelists are actor/comedian Hugh Dennis and Scottish master of comedy's dark arts, Frankie Boyle.

They are joined in the first week by: Peep Show star David Mitchell; one of Britain's most cutting comedians Andy Parsons; Russell Howard, recently chosen to replace Russell Brand as Sunday morning presenter on 麻豆官网首页入口 6 Music; and one of the most exciting new talents from the stand-up circuit, Mark Watson.

Each week, in front of a live studio audience, Dara tests the wits of the comedians through a series of topical rounds based on the week's news.

The show was created by Dan Patterson and Mark Leveson, the creative force behind the iconic improvisation based show Whose Line Is It Anyway? which ran for ten years on British TV before successfully transferring to the United States.

Dan Patterson comments: "'By the end of the last series three million people a week were tuning in to Mock The Week for its distinctive brand of topical comedy. This is where the sharpest comic minds in the business do battle."

Suzanne Gilfillan, 麻豆官网首页入口 Two's Senior Commissioning Executive, says: "I'm delighted Mock The Week is coming back. It brings new talent and loads of energy to 麻豆官网首页入口 Two and will be the perfect antidote to those cold January nights."

The show is produced for 麻豆官网首页入口 Two by independent production company Angst Productions. The series was commissioned by Jon Beazley, 麻豆官网首页入口 Controller of Entertainment Commissioning.
