Asian Network announces new signings for Saturday night music show Mic Check

Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Asian Network renews its commitment to new Asian music with the signing of presenter talents Kan-D-Man and DJ Limelight to the Saturday night music show Mic Check.

Asian Network is dedicated to championing a range of specialist Asian music genres – as well as supporting new and emerging talent.

Kan-D-Man joins DJ Limelight for their debut show on Saturday 19 January from 10.00pm to midnight. Mic Check is the only national radio show dedicated to providing a platform for the best in new Asian street music – from Hip-Hop to R'n'B, Grime to Dubstep.

Kan-D-Man and Limelight are already plugged in to forward movements in Asian street music, having emerged from the East London-based Asian Hip-Hop collective Chronicle Entertainment.

The duo first caught the attention of Asian Network in 2006 with the lyrical dexterity displayed on Raw Jaw – a weekly MC-clash on Friction (Asian Network's week-night music show presented by Sony Gold winner Bobby Friction).

Mark Strippel, Asian Network's Head of Music, said of the new appointment: "This is an important signing for us. Kan-D-Man and Limelight have the potential to be real ambassadors for Asian street music. The unique music platform that Asian Network provides makes us a catalyst for new emerging Asian artists."

Kan-D-Man, 22, is currently studying Law as well as pursuing a career in music. He released a solo mix CD in early 2005 called The Undergraduate. From this, he earned radio plays on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Radio 1, 1Xtra Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú, Asian Network, Kiss FM and Choice as well as pirate/internet radio stations nationwide. Kan-D-Man has also featured on many projects which has helped Asian street music develop.

DJ Limelight, 22, is completing his English Language degree. Limelight has hosted, mixed and presented a series of compilation CDs which include work with MC Ghetto, Triggs Vega, Ndubz, Klashnekoff, Dawn Penn to name a few. Limelight is also a founder of Chronicle Entertainment. Limelight hopes to use his show to help support a new wave of young talents in the UK, showcasing them on a wider platform.
