Asian Network launches new weekend schedule

Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Asian Network announces today the creation of two new weekend shows – further cementing its sound as the best mix of new and classic Asian music and entertainment on the radio.

The new schedule comes into effect on Saturday 17 May 2008 with the following changes:

Tommy Sandhu presents the New Weekend Breakfast Show from 7.00 to 9.00am. The show gives listeners the best in Asian music classics, Bollywood entertainment gossip, news and sport. Tommy, a TV presenter and the former voice of Blind Date, will present on both Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Asian Network DJ and TV host Murtz presents the Request Show on Saturday afternoons from 2.00 to 5.00pm. The show will play the top Asian songs as requested by listeners.

Bollywood It boys Raj & Pablo present the weekend Love Bollywood show on both Saturday and Sunday.
Ìý
Devotional Sounds, Asian Network's early morning religious music slot, sees minor scheduling changes with programming beginning one hour earlier at 4.00am and continuing until 7.00am.

The Sunday night language shows also see minor scheduling changes with the Mirpuri and Gujarati shows swopping timeslots beginning with Punjabi at 5.00pm, Mirpuri at 7.00pm, Gujarati at 9.00pm and ending on the Bengali show at 11.00pm.

The rest of the weekend schedule remains the same.

Tommy Sandhu said: "Having DJ'd in London for years, I know what a heavy Friday and Saturday night feels like.

Murtz said: "I'm really excited and scared! Having presented Love Bollywood for a year it's going to be weird going back to presenting on my own!

"But I can't wait to get my teeth into it! Three hours of wicked tunes, jokes and typical Murtz humour – no holds barred!"

Raj & Pablo said: "We are over the moon – we love Bollywood and can't wait to sit in the Bollytastic hot seat on Saturday's and Sundays ... our weekend mornings are going to be one big Bollywonderfull bonanza!"
