You're not Nancy! – Keisha's dream is over
Keisha's dream is over as she becomes the fifth contestant to be
eliminated from Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú One's I'd Do Anything.

After a public vote Keisha and Niamh were the least popular Nancys
and Andrew Lloyd Webber decided to save Niamh. So Keisha is the
fifth Nancy to leave the competition.

In Saturday's live show, all eight remaining Nancy finalists
performed solo renditions of contemporary numbers chosen to show
viewers that they have the skill and sheer charisma to carry one of
the most challenging roles in musical theatre.

After performing their songs and receiving feedback from Andrew
Lloyd Webber and the expert panel of John Barrowman, Denise Van
Outen and Barry Humphries, the Nancys faced a nervous wait for
viewers to cast their votes.

On Keisha's performance, John said: "There were a couple of notes
there where you did crack, because you've had some vocal issues and
troubles. But it was a big improvement. You've thrown caution to
the wind, you are a fighter and your Nancy is blossoming."

Barry said: "Keisha, that was a great song for survival, and I
think the best yet from you. I just wonder, though, are you an
ensemble player or a soloist? It's difficult for me to tell at the
moment."

Denise said: "That was the best performance I've seen from you so
far in this competition. I think the song suited your voice. For
once you connected with the words.
Ìý
"The only thing you really need
to be careful of – as it's quite distracting when you perform – you
do a lot of head wobbling. Keep yourself still as it's so
distracting. But much better." Ìý
Keisha and Niamh gained the least amount of votes, and had to sing
a rendition of The Rose (Bette Midler) in order to survive.

Then it was up to Andrew Lloyd Webber alone to choose which Nancy
should be saved for another week.

Andrew said: "First, I am going to say this is a complete and utter
travesty, neither of you should be in the bottom two, it's
completely wrong.
Ìý
"Keisha, you did wonderfully tonight. I've been
put into a situation that I have never wanted to be in. For the
first time on a television show, I am angry.
Ìý
"But I'm going to have to go with the majority of the panel and I'm
going to save Niamh."
Ìý
He added: "That was an impossible choice for me. I thought this
might happen at one point and this is the first time on this series
or any of the others this has happened."
Ìý
But he had some encouraging last words for Keisha: "You were
absolutely wonderful. I thought you caught my eye in the last
routine. I think you have a huge career ahead of you and all I can
say is that I'll do anything I can to help you."

After the announcement Keisha said: "Understandably, I feel
upset that I've left the competition. I tried my hardest. It's
been a great experience and I came out fighting."
Ìý
Safe for another week were Ashley, Jessie, Jodie, Rachel, Samantha,
Sarah and Niamh.
Ìý
The remaining hopefuls will go on to next week's show where they
will again perform for the nation who will decide who should be
Nancy in the new Cameron Mackintosh West End production of Oliver!

musicians from the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Orchestras, as well as some familiar faces.

Registrations can be taken online, bbc.co.uk/oliver, and through an
automated phone service, 08700 100150, with lines closing at
midnight on Monday 5 May 2008.

Calls from a BT line cost up to 8 pence per minute. Some
operators and mobiles may be higher.
Applications can only be accepted if completed by an adult aged
18 years or over.
