The Mandela Machine

To mark the 90th birthday of Nelson Mandela – one of the most loved and respected people in the world – Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú World Service programme Outlook investigates the Mandela Machine.

Ìý

The Mandela Machine goes directly to the people in Nelson Mandela's inner circle, to the ones he really trusts.

Ìý

It goes to the heart of Mandela's world to hear from the people who protect him; support him; shelter him; and take care of him.

Ìý

The programme will find out what his lawyers have to do to protect his identity; how thousands of press enquiries and interview bids are dealt with; and what it means to be in charge of preserving his historic photographs and documents.

Ìý

Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú audiences can listen to The Mandela Machine on Outlook everyday, starting today, right up until Mandela's birthday on Friday 18 July 2008.
