Roger Mosey in new Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú 2012 role


The Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú announced today that it has appointed a senior dedicated Director to focus on its preparations for the events of 2012.

The landmark announcement follows the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú's highly successful coverage of the Olympic Games from Beijing and the new role is a key step in the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú's planning for the London games.

Roger Mosey has been appointed the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú's Director of London 2012.

In this new full-time post, he will lead the co-ordination of all of the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú's activities surrounding the London Olympic Games including sport, culture and involving the whole of the UK in that summer's events.

Roger, who is currently Director of Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Sport, will report to Mark Byford, Deputy Director-General, who is chair of the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú-wide London 2012 steering group.

Ìý

Roger will also lead the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú's relationship with external bodies involved in 2012, such as The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG).

He will continue as Director of Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Sport until his successor is appointed.

A process to find a successor to lead Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Sport will begin shortly.

Announcing Roger's appointment, Mark Thompson, Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Director-General, said: "London 2012 is one of the biggest events in the UK to be held in our lifetimes and requires all our focus and energy. Now is the right time to take this important step in the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú's planning for this momentous year.

"I witnessed first hand in Beijing what is required to successfully deliver such a major broadcasting event, and we all saw the outstanding coverage by the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú.

Mark Byford, Deputy Director-General and Chair of the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú's London 2012 Steering Group, said: "The scale of the planning involved for London 2012 means it's right we appoint a full time co-ordinating Director now and Roger will be a pivotal player in ensuring the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú provides well co-ordinated, outstanding and innovative content."

Roger Mosey was appointed the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú's Director of Sport in August 2005, and is currently responsible for sport on television, radio and online.

His previous jobs include Editor of Today on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Radio 4, Controller of Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Radio 5 Live and, most recently, Head of Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Television News.

He was born in Bradford and started his career in Local Radio.
