Diane Youdale – also known as original Gladiator Jet – is joining Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Tees to co-present the mid-morning show with Neil Green from today.

Diane was originally from Billingham and is returning to her roots with her new show at Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Tees.

She has a long association with the radio station – her dad, Jack Youdale, was Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Tees' astronomer for 30 years.

Diane says: "I'm rediscovering my roots. Teesside is an amazing area, with its industrial history and the recent regeneration.

"It's absolutely fascinating, I love what's been done and there's still so much to do. I'm very excited to come back home.

"I feel slightly in awe of Neil because he's such an experienced broadcaster! He'll be a fantastic co-host."

Neil, who hails from Hartlepool, says: "I can't wait to work with Diane who's got a fabulous personality and loves the North East. We've been planning the programme for a few weeks and I feel I've known her for years.

"It's also slightly surreal to think I'm going to be sitting opposite the woman who was on my bedroom wall poster as I was growing up."
