Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú WM announces new afternoon show presenter

Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú WM's Danny Kelly is taking over the afternoon show from Les Ross, weekdays between 2.00pm and 4.00pm, from Monday 6 April.

Danny will bring his big personality and rogue-ish sense of humour to a brand new Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú WM afternoon show.

The new show will be fun and full of surprises. Danny aims to put a smile on the faces of Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú WM's listeners and takes a look at the latest news and gossip in his own unique way.

Danny joined Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú WM as a breakfast show reporter in 2000. During the last five years he's successfully presented both late at night and first thing in the morning and has most recently been the presenter of the station's Sunday morning programme from 9.00am to midday.

Born in Liverpool, Danny came to the Midlands as a teenager and he's never left. He is a fully qualified chef, having worked in New York and Spain, before going on to a second career in the used car business in the Midlands.

Danny's entire family are journalists, with his father, mother and brother all working for various newspapers across the country, so it was only a matter of time before Danny decided to pursue a career in the media.

Danny's first taste of radio was presenting on Coastline Radio in Nerja on the Costa del Sol in Spain.

Danny says: "I'm really looking forward to presenting the new show. I love Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú WM and our listeners and I can't wait to start talking to them again every afternoon. It’s going to be one big laugh."

Les Ross has decided to leave Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú WM after four years with the station. Les has presented the afternoon show for the past two years, previously presenting various weekend slots after joining Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú WM in 2005.

Keith Beech, Managing Editor, Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú WM, says: "Les is a West Midlands radio legend. He's given us a great deal over the years. It's been a privilege to work with him and we wish him all the best.

"As Les leaves us I'm delighted to see Danny return to Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú WM's weekday schedule and join our exciting new presenter line-up."

Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú WM broadcasts on 95.6FM, DAB Digital Radio, Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú iPlayer and online at bbc.co.uk/birmingham/local_radio.
