The Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú today announced Colin Murray as the new presenter of Match Of The Day 2 and the World Cup highlights programme in South Africa.

As well as currently presenting the sports-based, Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Radio 5 Live's Fighting Talk, Murray also fronts Channel 5's coverage of Europa League cup matches.

Murray said today: "I'd like to thank Five for allowing me to take this opportunity. I'm very proud to have been the channel's face of football and can't wait to host Five's live coverage of the Europa League Final, hopefully featuring both Liverpool and Fulham, on 12 May."

He continues: "Going to the World Cup is mind-blowing for me as a football fan. It's an absolute honour to become part of what Match Of The Day stands for. I will do my best to bring everything I have to the table and the hallowed sofa. I can't imagine how nervous I will be sitting there and hearing that theme tune. I like a laugh but I am serious also about football and the impartiality required to respect all football fans."

His Match Of The Day duties will begin this summer at the World Cup in South Africa, when he will front the nightly 10pm highlights programme on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Two. His role as presenter on the Sunday night Premier League highlights show on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Two kicks off at the start of the 2010/2011 season.
