Chris Tarrant will make his Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Radio 2 daily debut next month when he takes over the reins of Steve Wright In The Afternoon (2-5pm) for a week, from Monday 17-Friday 21 May 2010.

Chris has a rich and diverse history of broadcasting, ruling the London airwaves from 1987-2004 as the host of the legendary Capital Radio Breakfast Show, as well as changing the face of the television game show as presenter of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? from 1998 until today.

Chris comments: "Steve Wright has been a great mate of mine for more than 25 years. He's been doing great radio for as long as I can remember and it is a real thrill to take over his show for a week while the distinguished old gentleman takes a well-earned holiday."

DJ Chris Tarrant last presented on Radio 2 with Eighties pop star and songwriter Nik Kershaw in December 2009, profiling the Great British Songbook of the Eighties.

Lewis Carnie, Head of Programming, Radio 2, says: "Chris is one of the UK's most innovative and much-loved broadcasters and I'm delighted that he has a week-long stint in the afternoon hot seat to entertain over six million listeners."

This follows last week's confirmation that Graham Norton will cover for Chris Evans when he goes on holiday for a fortnight from 3-14 May 2010.

Graham and Chris join the rich stable of entertainment talent at Radio 2, which includes Paul O'Grady, Chris Evans, Jools Holland and Alan Carr.

With a weekly reach of 13.5m listeners, the network provides a distinctive mix of music and speech-based radio, from jazz to folk, soul to blues.
