CÂ鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú's factual magazine programme Blue Peter will add to its long list of television firsts when on Tuesday 29 March it becomes the first programme in the UK to present a whole show in 360 degrees.

Viewers will be able to see the 360 degree effect by watching the programme from the Blue Peter website and controlling what they see, by rotating their view. This special programme offers viewers a unique opportunity to see how a television studio works and gives them a chance to see what happens behind the cameras.

As well as watching the programme and exploring the studio, viewers will be able to play a game where they are challenged to find particular crew members.

Presented by Andy Akinwolere, Barney Harwood and Helen Skelton, Tuesday's show will also feature an attempt on the world speed skipping record and a performance by circus troupe Circolombia – all of them viewable during and after the show in 360 degrees.

Tim Levell, editor of Blue Peter, says: "Children are now very familiar with 3D, so we're going to give them a whole new technology experience: television in 360 degrees. They'll get to see every nook and cranny of our famous studio. If only the technology had been around when Lulu the elephant appeared on the show in 1969!"

The 360 degree filming specialists,YellowBird, will be shooting the show with their special unit, housing six cameras, five which look outwards in the horizontal plane and one which looks upwards. The technology then stitches the different images together to create the 360 degree view.
