Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Director of Future Media & Technology Erik Huggers today (Thursday 18 March 2010) presented his vision to put a focused Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Online at the heart of the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú's digital future, to the Guardian Changing Media Summit.
With broadband penetration expected to grow in coming years, Huggers explained how changing audience demands are establishing the internet as the third platform: making the internet as important as TV and Radio in delivering the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú's public service mission.
Huggers outlined how Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Online will be transformed from a collection of websites supporting broadcast output to a coherent single service that will deliver all the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú's public services to audiences across a wide range of internet-connected digital platforms and devices – including mobiles and internet-connected TVs.
