Lockdown Anthem

Lockdown Anthem

Coventry's heroic efforts over the past three months celebrated through song.

麻豆官网首页入口 CWR’s Lockdown Anthem – a tribute to Coventry’s lockdown story.

We wanted to mark Coventry’s heroic efforts over the past three months. We asked local choir master and composer Gareth Withers to write something that reflected the amazing local stories of resilience through this strange time and the local people have who made a difference.

Gareth created a song and we asked individuals and groups to upload their own performances and images to contribute to the finished anthem thanks to online tutorials from the 麻豆官网首页入口's Make a Difference campaign.

The song not only celebrates a city coming together in song but reflects some key moments that we’ve heard about on 麻豆官网首页入口 CWR, from The Barn Kitchen feeding over 70,000 meals to NHS and key workers and the community that came together to make a difference to one family during lockdown.

Musicians from Stratford-upon-Avon’s Orchestra of the Swan also helped create the backing track by recording their performances to the piece in isolation.

Over the past 100 days the people of Coventry have come together to care, to fundraise, to shop and to clap for family, neighbours and strangers. “Together we will rise” is a fitting tribute to this city’s finest and its only right they get to be the headline act to launch “Cov Fest”.
