Why are we doing this and how can you participate?

We know that the number of bees and other pollinators are in decline, and from the 7 June 2021 on 麻豆官网首页入口 Radio 2 we will be talking about the many things everyone can do to help the bees.

For Radio 2’s ‘Big Bee Challenge’ competition, we’re asking children aged 6-12 to design a bee friendly garden. We would like parents or guardians to upload a picture of the garden design and get their child to tell us a bit about their design ideas and why they want to help the bees.

The garden should be made from natural materials that will be attractive to bees and we’d like some of the flowers, herbs and plants to be named! Bees should be able to use the garden as a place for shelter and rest or even to lay their eggs.

Entries will be judged by the Radio 2 Big Bee Challenge production team and representatives from the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), National Garden Scheme and other nominated organisations. We will shortlist 20 entries and a winner will be chosen from those entries.

The winning design will be built at an NHS site in Doncaster by the RHS and the overall winner will be invited to take part in a broadcast of the Zoe Ball Breakfast Show at the garden on the 20th August 2021. There will also be coverage on the Radio 2 Twitter and Instagram accounts. You will be asked to sign a separate contributor release form for this.
