Meet the judges
Ben Fogle
Ben used to fish with his grandfather as a child and has happy memories of fishing as a boy. Although not an expert, he can completely understand the obsession, as fishing takes you to places in nature that you would never normally go. He has now taken his own children fishing, continuing the tradition and putting into practice the many lessons he has learnt from Matt and the anglers.

Ben might have trekked across the Sahara, rowed across the Atlantic and hiked his way to the South Pole, but he goes side by side with the eight intrepid anglers in some of the world’s most dramatic and challenging fishing destinations.
Matt Hayes
Matt Hayes first discovered fishing on a day trip to Edgbaston Reservoir at the age of four. Sitting alongside his dad, John, on a sunny Saturday afternoon in the middle of Birmingham, that tiny stickleback sparked a love of the sport that has taken him to every continent and seen him catch many of the world's greatest sport fish.
Matt has fished for everything from sticklebacks to sailfish and almost everything in between
Matt has fished for everything from sticklebacks to sailfish and almost everything in between. In his role as a judge he’ll use his experience to cut through to the issues that really matter – watercraft, natural ability, attitude and technique.
Matt believes fishing is one of the few sports in which you can interact with nature in a sympathetic way and help to protect the environment, and that trying to understand the underwater world is a challenge in which you never stop learning.
For Matt, fishing is all about great adventures, capturing memories that last a life time whether in a city centre canal or the planet's greatest oceans. When it comes to angling Matt has a simple philosophy; don't measure your fishing trip in terms of the size of your catch but rather the mystery and adventure of being by the water.
