Fight, Flight, Freeze and Fawn
Inge Thomson’s new work Fight, Flight, Freeze and Fawn is inspired by the natural law - “If you push on it, it pushes on you”. Composed sound representations of human emotional responses to trauma blend with improvised reactions to manipulated interview excerpts. In her own words “I want each state to be represented as viscerally as possible but retaining some aural beauty and focus, using found sound, static and white noise to reflect different states of inertia and organic instruments to demonstrate the dynamic shifts between these emotional states”. The piece is for vocals, accordion, drums, percussion and electronics.
