It opens with the uprising led by Queen Boudicca against Roman rule in Britain. Peter gives a blow-by-blow account of the battle of wits fought between Boudicca and her adversary, the Roman governor Suetonius Paulinus. Dan tells the soldiers' stories and joins the London Wasps rugby team to experience what it would have been like for the warriors as they clashed with the disciplined ranks of the Roman army.
